I’m not trying to snark, Katie or anyone else.
I worry that being too overzealous about sexism in the workplace is that it leaves impressionable minds feeling like no matter how hard they try, there is a glass ceiling.
You can do whatever you want, ladies.
Just to offer a counterpoint, in relation to the Nia Vardalos (sp?) post, this list kind of proves her point. Only one woman is an actress, Angelina Jolie, at number 24. And then Miley Cyrus at 100, but that doesn’t really count.
What the Nia post is about, to me, is the fact that very few women in Hollywood can get a picture greenlighted (greenlit?). There aren’t many actress who are considered box-office bankable. This is why there are more movies with male leads.
Take pretty much any Will Smith movie and substitute any actress you can think of for him, and that movie won’t get made.
Is that sexist? No, it’s business. Male stars are more bankable.
