eLeCTRIC PENCILS

Back during SXSW, my pal Adam and I tried to get into Franklin BBQ. It didn’t happen. In the months since then, I’ve gone down there maybe 5 times with friends, only to not get in. This weekend, my friends Mike and Melissa are crashing at my place because our friends Eric and Kelly, (who I stayed with when I got here) had their baby. Anyway, this morning, we got up and decided we were getting some fucking BBQ.

We got in line at 9:50am. There were at least 50 people in front of us. We got inside about noon. I’ll tell you this:

IT WAS TOTALLY FUCKING WORTH IT.

The place has been featured on TV and in some magazines, so it’s became a trendy place to go here in Austin, but that reputation is 100% deserved. We each bought meat and shared, brisket, sausage, turkey and ribs.

Best turkey ever.

Best brisket ever.

Ribs and sausage were also top notch.

The only thing I’d mark it down for was the potato salad. Not enough flavor, but who cares when the meat is that damn good.

So, if you’re ever in Austin, take some time and brave the line.
