Rooms To Go, great service when they’re selling you furniture, but once they get your money…

Is there something about me that screams “Give me poor service!”?

I bought a full living room set from Rooms to Go a couple of months ago. When I was in the store, they were very attentive and accommodating. I paid in full at the time of purchase. Then the problems start…

When my furniture was to be delivered, I was given a window between 1pm and 5pm. They called once in the early afternoon to say they were running late and would be there around 6pm. No big deal. It’s an hour. However, my furniture wasn’t delivered until 10pm. I called the store THREE times and got nothing but the runaround about where my furniture was in those hours I was waiting. I was even told I couldn’t just get my money back, unless I wanted to take 20% of it in store credit.

Then a week ago, my loveseat broke. We barely even sit on it. So, I call and they say they have to send out a service tech. It’ll take a week.

Yesterday, the automated call tells me they’ll be here between 9am and 1pm. I make sure I’m up at 8:30 and I sit on the couch with the TV on low. At 9:30, the customer service center in Florida calls and says the tech came and no one was home. I explain that no one has come to my door. I’m ten feet from it and you can hear people coming up the stairs. She says she’ll see if they can come back out. Of course, they can’t. The tech says he even called. There are no calls from anyone other than the one from Florida.

Now I have to wait ANOTHER week for them to come and look at my broken loveseat, which they will assuredly find a way to tell me is not covered by the warranty and I’m just stuck with a broken piece of furniture.

I’ll let you know next Thursday…if they actually show up.
